Alveston Residence

This attic conversion uses a variety of strategies to create an elegant bedroom suite within the existing envelope of a small cottage house on Sumner Hill in Jamaica Plain. A modest budget required effective and creative design strategies that include new skylights and a bay window to add natural daylight. Built-in storage saves valuable square footage and adds a charming craftsman-style character to the space. The strong single gesture of a free-form granite countertop unifi es the elements of the bath renovation; a glass shower and repetitive mirrors add depth and a feeling of spaciousness.
